The roots we celebrate here every day at Jim Butler Maserati of St Louis can be traced back to the 1910s when 3 brothers founded an ingeniously- laid out company that constructed aircraft engine parts and spark plugs. Immediately after WWI, it was decided that the business should now undergo expansion to build the entire automobile. This is how the Maserati company that is known today saw its roots, with brothers Ernesto and Ettore joining forces to construct the Tipo 26. Here is a sampling of the most memorable models we’ve ever let off the line, and just how many ways they have raised adrenaline levels on tracks worldwide.
The Maserati 8CTF was key in engraving a consistent success in the exciting and demanding duty of motorsport. The 8CTF was built in direct response to an abrupt change in Grand Prix racing rules that mandated engine size to a maximum of 3,000 CC, making every eligible racer before it no longer able to compete. It debuted in 1938 and began winning big soon after its exciting introduction. Its most memorable win was at the 1939 Indy 500, with the very brilliant and skilled Wilbur Shaw at the wheel.
The MC12 was developed with F1-inspired aerodynamics, as well as a powerful and sinister V12 engine. The MC12 was built with the purpose to take the world by storm and possess true supercar status, then being allowed to enter the FIA GT Championship, boasting some of the most memorable visual cues a car has ever achieved. It remains as the fastest accelerating Maserati road car to ever exist, and excited buyers had to be selected from an incredibly elite group.
The Maserati Tipo 60/61 Birdcage was developed for privateer teams that were set to compete in the exciting two-liter category of sports car racing and gained much notoriety from its slightly unusual design features. As British car manufacturers were beginning to move away from the common traditional ladder frame chassis and towards pricier monocoque numbers, this was the result of a more cost-effective way of doing things. At the time there were rules stating just how each windshield had to adhere to a certain sizing, and so it was decided to incline the windshield of the Tipo 60 far back to boost aerodynamics.
The Maserati A6 1500 Gran Turismo was officially unveiled at the 1947 Geneva Motor Show, and featured exquisite styling courtesy of Pinin Farina, and a luxurious interior with distinct elements such as a clock situated in the lid of the glove box. This was one of the earliest models to use the new Maserati Trident logo, and enjoyed characteristics that made it ideal as a roadster. Helping lay the foundation for Maserati’s future and many other road-focused models to come, it was a perfect example of a very distinguished and dapper gem for its time.
The Maserati 250F was a very high-profile Formula 1 model that ended up playing a very noted role in one of the sport’s most intense rivalries during the 1950s. The car was introduced just in time for the 1954 season, and Argentinian master at the wheel Juan Manuel Fangio saw a victory with the car as he snagged that year’s coveted driver’s title. This was a car that was known for possessing expert-level balance and was at the forefront of a very intense rivalry on the track to claim victory.
The Maserati Bora was a unique model that found its way to the market after the brand was sold to French carmaker Citroen. It was also a two-seater coupe which was the first mid-engineered Maserati ever and sported the very unique wedge shape that Italian manufacturers had frequently featured during the 1970s. One of the other brand-new features was the use of a hydraulic system that provided operation for the very adjustable headlights, pedals, and driver’s seat positioning. Some compared its looks to those of a Corvette, but we all agree they are much more unique and discerning!
The Maserati MC20 is the car that will truly represent the beginning of a new and very modern era for the brand and will be its first mass-produced supercar. After the Car and Driver crew got their hands on it they gave it an excellent 9.5/10 rating, praising it for its lightning-fast acceleration and astronomical handling. This will be the brand’s first mid-engine sports car since the MC12, and it doesn’t take a seasoned expert to know full-on that this will be one of the greatest and personality-rich Maseratis of the past few decades.
2023 GranTurismo Folgore Post Test-Drive: 800 Volts of Salient Victory to Illustriously Light up Streets of Rome
From the Via Della Conciliazione to the scenic western banks of the Tiber River, Rome is one fine city to blast around in with the always endearing and pervasive chops of a supercar. Here at Jim Butler Maserati of St Louis we have been excited to witness what benefits and heightened awareness for the plight of the planet will bring in terms of new models, and the Motor Authority blog just reported on the test drive that our esteemed CEO Carlos Tavares took in Rome as the brand we love to represent here every day promises to be fully-electric by 2030, and have an electric option on every vehicle in our lineup by 2025.
Some of the plans we are most excited about are all related to the Formula E World Championship, and our detailed docket we will roll out to have grade-A contenders on the track to vie for the win. The powertrain in the GranTurismo Folgore is now officially confirmed as a 3-engine setup with one motor up front and two at the rear, running at a consistent 800 volts with a peak output of over 1,200 hp. We love the term “hypercar”, and excitedly accept the responsibility of claiming to bring such esteemed lead-foot frenzy to the table.
This car will likely come equipped with our patented 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 that saw its debut in the 2022 MC20 Supercar, perhaps with a mild-hybrid setup attached. The V6 delivers 621 hp in the MC20, and a convertible variant is also in the works to arrive in the next year or so. The GranTurismo Folgore will not be the only electric Maserati available next year, as the smaller crossover in the form of the Grecale will soon be available and based on our wildly popular Stelvio’s Giorgio platform. The Grecale will go on sale later this year touting standard internal combustion power, but will also provide an all-electric version during 2023.
These Folgore models will be immediately recognized by the appearance of their unique front fascias that are now more streamlined with fewer openings, including in the signature trident grille. Eventually, there will be a full-fledged launch of a Folgore version for the MC20, and fully redesigned versions of the Levante and Quattroporte with only electric power. The MC20 is sure to completely redefine the boundaries of what can be accomplished with carbon-fiber structure and aluminum subframe construction, with a powertrain and suspension that is set to make history once and for all.
There has not been much space to adapt and create plentifully over the past few years, with the present now wide open for change and redevelopment. Maserati ownership not only provides a feeling of exclusivity and a consistently ahead-of-the-curve mantra, but will lead the future with bold, breathtaking, and always sophisticated persona.
2023 Maserati Grecale Stands out in a Passionate, Unmatched, and Athletically Comfortable Form
Italian brands like ours have long enjoyed a passionate and emotion-stirring presentation, as customers here at Jim Butler Maserati of St Louis have noticed that a hundred years of legendary racing performance have laid the pathway to success. Customers purchase foreign-made cars because they want to indulge in a savory taste of an exotic lifestyle, and the sheer thrill one can only properly drink in when taking corners with one of the best-constructed engines and chassis ever built.
These are just a few of the reasons why the 2023 Maserati Grecale won over Brandon Turkus of Motor1.com automotive editorial greatness. During an exciting trip to beautiful Milan, Italy, he put in the time behind the wheel to rightfully declare that the Grecale has the most spacious cabin in its segment, and is superior to its rivals as far as pure material ruling class.
Where Brandon thought the Grecale took a giant and very cosmetic leap forward was by embracing the day-to-day composure that luxury crossovers need to possess, and by remaining “unabashedly Italian”. The base GT and volume-spec Modena trims carry the turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder that pairs with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system to confidently crank out 300 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque. The Trofeo is always the kingly and range-topping number, which unapologetically takes down the competition in every way.
This car expert was able to turn out 530 horsepower and 457 lb-ft of torque in the Grecale Trofeo, with a quick spring to 62 mph taking only 3.8 seconds. This test drive specialist spent most of the day in Italy flaunting a Giallo Yellow Grecale Trofeo, bouncing proudly around Milan and with a destination of Lake Maggiore, 60 miles north of the capital.
Let it be noted here that the Nettuno flaunts the dry-sump oil pump in favor of a wet-sump system, and still holds on tight with both hands to the very modern and innovative Twin Combustion system. Enjoying the supercar-sourced, twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 proved to be much fun on the roads just outside the city, and this is where the world-class performance and wonderful note of the V6 took hold undeniably. On top of the abundant room inside, there were well-padded leather accents, along with contrast stitching and unvarnished carbon-fiber trim. As far as straight-line high-speed stability we were not surprised at the high regards doled out upon the Trofeo, as it oozed real appeal and a delightfully menacing composure.
“The Folgore Leads the Future” With 100% Electric Range, Maserati’s Consistently Authentic DNA

Now the first Italian luxury car brand to produce fully-electric models, Maserati has officially announced plans for the market launch of the electric Maserati Folgore. Announced at the “MMXX: Time to be Audacious” event in September 2020, Maserati has completed the in-depth brand revamp and is now ready for the market’s official launch of the new 100% electric range Folgore.
The new GranTurismo will be made at the Mirofori production hub, and see its official market debut next year. It will be a very strong leader of the pack and benchmark of esteemed innovation with technical solutions derived from the Formula E.
The all-new Grecale SUV was recently unveiled and will also be available in an electric version. Each specific Maserati model will come in a 100% electric version within the next three years, completed with the MC20 sports car, the new Quattroporte sedan, and the full-size Levante SUV. These times are ripe with innovation and drastic change that will play a huge part in shaping the future of driving.

The “Dare Forward 2030” strategic plan announced on March 1 had officially outlined the plan for all new models to be developed, engineered, and produced 100% in Italy, adopting electric powertrains to bring about sleek innovation and high performance that is characteristic of Maserati. Each of Maserati’s successful cars possess the design, performance, comfort, and safety traits that lead the industry with flair and one-of-a-kind standout function. The Trofeo Collection includes the Ghibli, Quattroporte, and Levante, with the Ghibli and Levante being the brand’s first electrified hybrids. Just before the switch to efficient and Earth-saving technology fully takes place, you’ll be able to enjoy the raw performance and excitement of the MC20, powered by the F1-sourced Nettuno V6.
Maserati knows what makes up an Italian sports car in terms of personality, safety, elegance, and design. The future is exciting due to the technical features and unique styles that will be offered. Each model coming soon will not only provide unique opportunities for future sustainability, but also channel the same eccentric and alluring charm that only models from the Maserati namesake can.
Maserati MC20 Spotted Testing Close to Arctic Circle

Last year, Maserati official confirmed they would be constructing a convertible version of the MC20 supercar, and had publicly revealed a camouflaged prototype to the eager and curious masses.
The Carscoops.com staff captured another prototype completing cold-weather testing near a surprising spot: the Arctic Circle. At first glance, everything looks the same as the versions presented officially by Maserati. The rear decklid will also need to see a bit of change to accommodate the convertible mechanism, one of the features that is going to render the MC20 that much more enjoyable.
We expect the power source to be the same twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine that cranks out 621 horsepower and 538 lb/ft of torque, allowing this fantastic coupe to go from 0-62 mph in 2.9 seconds with a top speed of 202 mph. There is also an all-electric version called the “Folgore,” which means “lightning” in Italian, and it will most likely be available in both coupe and convertible options when it is available for public sale.

On May 13, 2020, a Maserati MC20 paid the ultimate in homage and recognition for Sir Stirling Moss, covered with the graphics that wonderfully commemorated Stirling and the legendary Maserati 420M/58 “Eldorado”, which was a unique single-seater that debuted in 1958. The Road and Track writers let the world know on July 2, 2020 that the engine was engaging, voraciously exciting, and “100% Maserati,” while also noting that it was not too tough to see the connection to the Ferrari F154 engine and the 690T sourced from the Alfa Romeo side of the starting lines.
The MC20 joins the recently renewed Quattroporte, Ghibli, and Levante models as well as introducing a newly refined Trident badge for Maserati to benchmark our new and forward-leaning leap into the future. Exotic not only defines the design but how the car is laid out and proportioned, where technology has been used to breathe life to and improve quality and provide a human touch to these cars. We are eagerly awaiting the smooth and aerodynamic result of 2,000 hours spent on the downforce element alone: the MC20 is going to provide sleek, smooth, and fantastic driving fun, and is fine-tuned to the utmost of performance capabilities.

Maserati can trace its roots a long way back to 1914 when four brothers with a distinct vision and passion for what was then very high speed founded the company! After hours of hard work and determination, they had put out some of the fastest and most thrilling racing cars that existed at the time. In 1926 Maserati began building road cars in addition to racing cars, which helped secure the brand name as one of the premier automakers on the globe. During its 107-year history, Maserati has created some of the most brilliant and personality-rich racing cars ever, as well as some of the greatest GT models ever made.
Here is a quick snapshot of this year’s available Maserati models and the features you can enjoy with each choice that fits you!
The 2022 Maserati Ghibli is another Maserati model named after a traditional and exotic wind, this time after the balmy breeze that blows through the crowded markets and tranquil nights of the Libyan desert. You can get the Ghibli in the GT line, the Modena, the Modena Q4, and top-of-the-line Trofeo, which offers a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged Ferrari-derived V8 with 580 horsepower and an Earth-shattering top speed of 203 mph. The Modena Q4 trim sees the addition of all-wheel drive, and you’ll love the retro touch of analog gauges inside and a huge amount of carbon fiber in the Trofeo trim.
The 2022 Maserati Levante is named after the warm, French, easterly wind that blows directly to the Strait of Gibraltar in the Mediterranean Sea. This is Maserati’s trademark SUV with astonishing performance and rides on the same platform as the Ghibli and Quattroporte. The GT and Modena trims share the familiar 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6, and can produce 345 and 424 horsepower respectively, with all trims featuring standard all-wheel drive. This is an incredibly spirited and energetic ride full of everything driving was meant to be, and it leaves every other SUV on the market in the dust!

The 2022 Maserati Quattroporte’s name simply means “four-door,” but the model is anything but simple. A stunning full-size high-end sedan, this is where high-end premium materials, luxury, and performance meet, and there is simply no other vehicle on the road like it. When you get behind the wheel of this amazing machine, you’ll feel as if you are driving the equivalent of the best-fitting tailored suit money can buy. The upper-level Trofeo trim runs on a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged Ferrari-derived V8 with 580 horsepower, and the Modena along with the Modena GT have the 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 that produces 345 horsepower.
The 2022 Maserati MC20 is the newest model on the block. It is powered by a massive 621 hp 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6, and goes 0 to 60 mph in under 2.9 seconds. You can find many ways to customize the MC20, with colors, personalization, and other options that make it even more unique. With a carbon-fiber chassis, in-house designed twin-turbo V6 with F1 technology, and amazing dynamics, it is a triumphant return to original form with a futuristic flair. Boasting carbon-fiber shift paddles, steering wheel, center console, and body panels, the body also houses other aerodynamic feats of wonder such as a game-changing rear spoiler, rear diffuser, and jaw-dropping front vortex generators while riding the entire time on adjustable dampers.

The bloggers at Motor Authority reported last week that Masearti is introducing brand-new MC editions of the V-8 powered Ghibli, Levante, and Quattroporte as a nod to the Maserati Corse racing department. The cars will offer exclusive colors, custom badging, and unique wheel patterns. The new colors are Giallo Crose and Blue Vittoria, which both also represent the official colors of Maserati’s lush Modena birthplace. Inside all of these are carbon-fiber accents, black leather and denim trim, blue and yellow accent stitching, and a special “MC Edition” script on the headrests. There are also top-of-the-line extras that provide an exciting boost to every drive, such as the electric sunroof, Bowers and Wilkins premium audio system, and Maserati’s signature driver assistance package.
What most diehard fans are curious about is understandably the arrival of the MC20 Supercar, which is just now hitting showrooms and laid its claim to fame at the Willow Springs International Raceway in California during numerous thrilling test drives. Race car driver Jon Morley tagged along in the passenger seat and got right down to business to try all of the drive modes. He first went to Sport and felt the raw amazement of the twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 all at once after dialing it in.

The amazing sound that this engine produced at full throttle became relaxed in GT mode. It returned to an aggressive sound in Corsa mode, which instills tons of extra life into the active exhaust. The MC20’s Nettuno engine uses advanced and class-leading technology derived straight from Formula One status and winning ranks to crank out an amazing 207 horsepower per liter.
When you come to check out any of these incoming models here at Jim Butler Maserati, we will get excited about their brilliance on the track, tastefully laid out specs, and ability to squeeze out every last ounce of performance!

It instinctively breathes every trait one would want from a well-appearing and high-performing model. This midsize luxury SUV that turns out to be a very family-friendly vehicle provides a choice of two turbocharged Ferrari-designed engines. The SUV will no doubt captivate your eye with its unique sound, look, and personality which will resonate with anyone seeking a true high-performance SUV model.
The Levante set begins with the base GT model and then climbs up to the Modena, Modena S, and high-performance Trofeo line. The interior of the Maserati Levante can be outfitted with features like available Zegna silk and Pieno Fiore leather and a pair of Ferrari-designed engines residing beneath the hood begin their prowess with the 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 that diligently offers up 345 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque.

The Levante Modena employs a more powerful 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 that makes 424 horsepower and 428 lb-ft of torque. The V8 comes out the end of the tunnel cranking out 550 horsepower and 538 lb-ft of torque, with the Trofeos’ engine output upped by another valuable 30 horses. We’d also recommend the Driver Assistance Package which includes driving assist, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, forward-collision warning, and active blind-spot assist. Additional safety features on hand to consistently provide the eagle’s eye are active lane-keep assist, traffic-sign recognition, surround-view camera, autonomous emergency braking, and pedestrian recognition.

The GT AWD offers up a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 with 345 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque, 8-speed automatic transmission with AWD, and 20-inch Efesto aluminum wheels. You’ll also enjoy the addition of 20-inch Efesto aluminum wheels, Matte-silver brake calipers, limited-slip differential, adaptive air suspension, leather interior, and the audiophile’s ultimate addition of 8-speaker Maserati Audio powered with 280 poised watts.
The Levante Trofeo AWD brandishes the 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 with 580 hp and 538 lb-ft of torque, and 21-inch staggered Antero wheels, gloss-red brake calipers and Trofeo vented performance hood. It also includes carbon-fiber front splitter, grille blades, side skirts, and rear exhaust-surround. There is the signature Italian flag situated on the B-pillar, and audio upgrade in the form of a Bowers and Wilkins ultra-premium audio system with 1,280 watts and 17 speakers. We don’t need to remind anyone that this is one of the only SUVs in existence with the thrilling addition of launch control. Flipping the switch is always bound to provide the punchiest and most aggressive start while holding your foot on the pedal off the line one could ever imagine!
Back in August of this year, everyone here at Jim Butler Maserati of St Louis was excited to see the name of our second incoming SUV confirmed as the Grecale. It was scheduled to debut last month and be slotted directly under the classy and lavish Levante but was unfortunately postponed due to the ongoing semi-conductor chip shortage. The Carwale.com website offered up some new spy shots that have recently emerged on the web featuring a sportier version of this upcoming SUV, now officially on deck to be called the Grecale Trofeo.

It was spotted testing on the snowy streets of Sweden, with a noticeably larger set of multi-spoke alloy wheels and tires. There is the nice visual addition of red brake calipers up-front, and the posterior design benefits from what appears from a distance to be a set of quad-tip exhausts. Everything else seems to be in check with what is found on the SUV’s standard version. One of the most exciting prospects of any car coming soon is seeing what is under the hood. The SUV is expected to be powered by the 3.0-liter V6 from the very exciting MC20 sports car.

The Grecale is officially scheduled to be built on the same Giorgio platform as the Alfa Romeo Stelvio, and the V6 will deliver an exciting total of 621 horsepower. We know here at Maserati that all these cars are geared towards those who have the finest preferences for luxury and the highest expectations for performance, and the Grecale has been specifically mastered to take on the competition from other thrilling vehicles out there such as the Porsche Macan GTS.
Inside some of the usual fittings to expect are leather and wood trim on the dash and an extra-large touchscreen and driver’s gauge cluster. Even though it’s a relatively small detail, traditional door handles in favor of electronic release buttons are in place, and normal variants may derive power from a turbocharged 2.0 inline-four that features mild-hybrid technology. This smaller and more affordable SUV is one great means of doing that in a market that is obsessed with crossovers.
You can find some awesome shots here of the Grecale Trofeo winter testing in the snow ahead of the reveal, on another tranquil and snowy day when the photographers also claimed that the exhaust note was a “rabidly delicious” and sporty character. Just like the previously spied Grecale Trofeo, this one’s redesigned front fascia appears to have taken a heavy dose of inspiration from the Jaguar F-Pace SVR. One element that Maserati never wants to sacrifice when it comes to cars is charisma, and we guarantee that the Grecale has the correctly positioned cool and all-around serious class to help ring in a fantastic and future-focused New Year!
MC20’s Illustrious Ambassador Pens a Love Letter for the City of Breezy Palms and Open Pavement
With the assistance of designer Centro Stile, David Beckham enjoyed the opportunity of bringing home a customized car in the form of the Maserati MC20. The MC20 is the first super sports car that lives and breathes segment-leading performance with a desirable sporty essence.

The project is an integral part of our brand’s Fuoriserie customization program which allows customers here at Jim Butler Maserati of St. Louis to have fun making their own tailor-made Maserati. The Fuoriserie is a blank canvas to that leaves a lot of room for creative liberty, and the House of the Trident provides the instruments for the job. The rest is up to the client’s inspiration, paving the way for an opportunity that expresses their own unique tastes and personality. This car is a superb masterpiece entirely made in Italy and derives power from a patented V6 petrol engine sourced from a partnership with the bona fide experts at Formula 1 technologies.
The MC20’s bodywork features a glossy black tone which contrasts seamlessly with the Trident logos on the C-pillar and opaque lettering on the rear with pink Brembo brake calipers. Inside you’ll find black and pink leather along with Alcantara worked with a tone-on-tone laser engraving method. The headrest has a unique 3-dimensional, pastel pink embroidery.

Situated directly in the center tunnel between the two seats, a personalized nameplate with a glossy-matte effect at the top also brandishes “For David” with a stunning aluminum effect at the bottom in italics. Miami’s driving landscape is a location that allows one to express themselves fully with a completely customized car. Klaus Busse is the head of Maserati Design, and he claimed lately that car designers are acting wholeheartedly on the premise of a mission to offer a holistic driving experience. The means to customize the car is a way for customers to set both feet forward and make their dreams come true and breathe very abundant life into their vision.
Drawing inspiration from a city with so many gorgeous hues during every sunset and a skyline that is picture-perfect from every angle, this is an incredible place to brandish as an anchor for the location of any build. With lightning-quick acceleration, sharp handling, and beautiful styling, the MC20 is slated to represent a very monumental leap forward for the entire Maserati legacy, boasting a carbon-fiber structure with aluminum subframes for the powertrain and suspension. Wait until the track-only variant is unleashed: no mappable plane of existence will know exactly what just hit them!
