Last year, Maserati official confirmed they would be constructing a convertible version of the MC20 supercar, and had publicly revealed a camouflaged prototype to the eager and curious masses.
The Carscoops.com staff captured another prototype completing cold-weather testing near a surprising spot: the Arctic Circle. At first glance, everything looks the same as the versions presented officially by Maserati. The rear decklid will also need to see a bit of change to accommodate the convertible mechanism, one of the features that is going to render the MC20 that much more enjoyable.
We expect the power source to be the same twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine that cranks out 621 horsepower and 538 lb/ft of torque, allowing this fantastic coupe to go from 0-62 mph in 2.9 seconds with a top speed of 202 mph. There is also an all-electric version called the “Folgore,” which means “lightning” in Italian, and it will most likely be available in both coupe and convertible options when it is available for public sale.

On May 13, 2020, a Maserati MC20 paid the ultimate in homage and recognition for Sir Stirling Moss, covered with the graphics that wonderfully commemorated Stirling and the legendary Maserati 420M/58 “Eldorado”, which was a unique single-seater that debuted in 1958. The Road and Track writers let the world know on July 2, 2020 that the engine was engaging, voraciously exciting, and “100% Maserati,” while also noting that it was not too tough to see the connection to the Ferrari F154 engine and the 690T sourced from the Alfa Romeo side of the starting lines.
The MC20 joins the recently renewed Quattroporte, Ghibli, and Levante models as well as introducing a newly refined Trident badge for Maserati to benchmark our new and forward-leaning leap into the future. Exotic not only defines the design but how the car is laid out and proportioned, where technology has been used to breathe life to and improve quality and provide a human touch to these cars. We are eagerly awaiting the smooth and aerodynamic result of 2,000 hours spent on the downforce element alone: the MC20 is going to provide sleek, smooth, and fantastic driving fun, and is fine-tuned to the utmost of performance capabilities.
